"As part of our ongoing efforts to increase the visibility of VFW Post 2562 within the community, strengthen membership growth, and expand our impact on veterans and their families. We are planning a series of community-focused events during August 2026.

These events are designed to showcase VFW Post 2562 as a premier resource for veterans while creating opportunities to engage community partners, educational institutions, employers, healthcare providers, and government agencies.

We respectfully request your support and participation in the following initiatives.

Event Name: VETERANS EDUCATION BENEFITS FAIR

Date: Saturday, August 8, 2026

Time: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Location:

VFW Post 2562

Wheaton, Maryland 20902

Theme: "Turn Your Service Into Opportunity"

Purpose: To assist veterans, service members, spouses, and dependents in understanding and maximizing their earned VA education benefits, including:

·Post-9/11 GI Bill

·Montgomery GI Bill

·Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E)

·Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA)

·Workforce training and certification opportunities

Objectives:

·Increase awareness and utilization of VA education benefits.

·Connect veterans with colleges, universities, apprenticeship programs, and workforce training providers.

·Provide direct access to VA education counselors and benefits specialists.

·Promote career advancement through education and training.

·Increase community engagement with VFW Post 2562.

Event Name: VETERAN JOB & CAREER FAIR 2026

Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026

Objectives:

·Connect veterans with employers actively recruiting and hiring.

·Provide access to veteran-focused employment resources.

·Offer résumé reviews, career counseling, and interview coaching.

·Introduce apprenticeship, certification, and workforce development opportunities.

·Promote networking among veterans, employers, and community organizations.

·Increase awareness of VFW Post 2562 and its mission.

Event Name: VETERANS HOMEOWNERSHIP & VA MORTGAGE FAIR2026

Date: Saturday, August 22, 2026

Time: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Target Audience:

·Veterans

·Active-Duty Service Members

·National Guard and Reserve Members

·Eligible Surviving Spouses

·First-Time Homebuyers

·Realtors Serving Military Families

Objectives:

·Educate veterans and military families about VA Home Loan benefits.

·Connect attendees with reputable VA-approved lenders and housing professionals.

·Promote financial literacy and homeownership opportunities.

·Increase community engagement during the Post's 80th Anniversary year.

·Generate sponsorship revenue to support Post facility improvements, including the roof renovation project and operational needs.

Event Name: MONTGOMERY COUNTY VETERANS HEALTH & WELLNESS FAIR 2026

Date: Saturday, August 29, 2026

Time: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Host: VFW Post 2562

Objectives:

·Connect veterans with healthcare providers serving Montgomery County.

·Increase enrollment in VA healthcare programs and benefits.

·Provide free health screenings and wellness education.

·Promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention resources.

·Connect veterans and families with community support services.

·Strengthen partnerships among healthcare providers, veteran service organizations, and community agencies.

The success of these events will depend on the collective efforts of our membership and supporters. Assistance is requested in the following areas:

·Exhibitor and vendor recruitment

·Volunteer coordination
